Traffic police inspector stabbed to death in Chandigarh

A traffic police inspector was allegedly stabbed to death by a youth near Sector-17 of Chandigarh on Saturday morning.
“The traffic cop, Sucha Singh had taken a youth into custody at around 3 am from district court complex and he was taking him to nearby police station when he attacked him with sharp edged weapon. Singh was rushed to PGI Chandigarh where he succumbed to injuries,” said the police, adding that a police constable has also suffered injuries in the incident.
After the attack, the youth allegedly fled from the spot in the police gypsy, in which he was being taken to police station, and the gypsy was later recovered by police from Dhanas Village.
Police have registered a case in this regard and a hunt is on to nab the accused.
