Punjab government on Friday decided to register students online in the schools affiliated with Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) from the current academic session.
Punjab’s Education minister Sikander Singh Maluka said that all the students will be registered online from this academic session and that too free of cost.
“The password and user IDs had already been sent to the schools for the online registration of students and now it would be the responsibility of the concerned school,” Maluka said, adding that around 7 lakh students studying in more than nine thousands schools will benefit from this new initiative.
Maluka said that the online registration process will also help in saving time as earlier it used to take more than three months for a student to get registered.
“With online registration, those students who migrated or shifted to other boards/schools or vice versa could also be tracked easily. Notably 17,500 students shifted from the CBSE board to the PSEB last year and very soon, fee collection would also be started online through banks,” added Maluka.
