SC okays PTA teachers appointments: Says can not be termed as illegal

The apex court of India (Supreme Court) on Friday while pronouncing its judgment in a case pertaining to PTA, PAT and Para teachers said that appointments, appointments made as per policies cannot be termed as illegal.

The apex court upheld the decision of the Himachal Pradesh High Court order which has paved the way for regularisation of the services of more than ten thousand teachers including PTA, PAT, and Para Teachers. The case belongs to the appointment of teachers made by the state government under Prathmik Sahayak Adhyapak/PAT Scheme; the HP Para Teachers (PGT’s, TGT’s) and Para Teachers (C&V) policy of 2003 and  Himachal Pradesh Gram Vidya Upasak Yojna, 2001.

While Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court of India in the case pertaining to the PTA, PAT and para-teachers. He said that the present state government has always taken care of these teachers and they were given regular pay scale at par with regular teachers during last year. However, they could not be regularized as matter was pending with the Supreme Court. He said that now the state government would examine this verdict and will pursue the issue accordingly. Thakur said that state government was committed for the welfare of its employees and they have been given financial benefits worth crores of rupees from time to time despite financial constraints. The state education minister Suresh Bhardwaj said that the process for the regularisation of teachers will be started after the lockdown period is over.
