Rift in BJP comes out in open as LK Advani resigns from all party posts

New Delhi/June 10
Veteran BJP leader LK Advani, who was reportedly upset over Gujarat CM Narendra Modi’s elevation, resigned from all party posts on Sunday.
As per reports, Advani, in letter written to BJP president Rajnath Singh, has resigned from National Executive Parliamentary Board, party’s National Executive body and Election Committee.
In his letter, Advani reportedly said, “All my life I have found myself working for the Jana Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party a matter of great pride and endless satisfaction for myself.”
“For sometime I have been finding it difficult to reconcile either with the current function of the party, or the direction in which it is going,” Advani said.
He added that some leaders in party are pursuing their self interests and this is the not the party for which he had worked and his letter should be considered as his resignation.
Earlier today, senior BJP leader LK Advani in a video address said that he was ill due upset stomach and this is the reason that forced him to skip party’s national executive meet.
There were media reports that he was opposed to Narendra Modi elevation as chief of poll campaign committee. He, however, didn’t mention Modi in his speech.
