Punjab’s sugarcane growers arrears to be released within a week

Punjab government on Saturday directed Co-operation department to release pending arrears of sugarcane growers within a week.
Punjab’s Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal today decided to release the pending arrears of cane growers to the tune of Rs 100 crore within a week.
“Punjab government have decided to release long pending payments of the cane growers who had supplied sugarcane to the Co-operative Sugar Mills,” Badal said while adding that the state government was committed to ensure the welfare of the farmers at all costs.
Badal directed the Co-operation department to ensure the timely payment of arrears to the farmers and said that no laxity on part of any government officials would be tolerated and each farmer who had supplied sugarcane to the cooperative mills should get his dues within a week’s time.
