Mohali student makes it to Google Science Fair

Srishti Asthana, a Class XI student of Millenium School in Mohali has made it to the final stage of the Google Science Fair-2013.
15-year-old Srishti Asthana has been named among the top 15 finalists of the Google Science Fair that was started in 2011, Google India said today.
Sristi had presented a project on Solar Light Assisted nanoZnO Photo Catalytic Mineralisation that was based on a Green Technique for the Degradation of Detergents. She was chosen from amongst thousands of participants from 120 countries of the world.
All the 15 finalists will be taken to the Google Mountain View headquarters in United States where they will present their projects to an international panel of esteemed scientists for the final round of judging on September 23.
The winner of the competition will receive a 10-day trip to the Galapagos Islands with National Geographic Expeditions and scholarship of 50,000 US Dollars.
Google Science Fair is an online science competition sponsored by Google, Lego, CERN, National Geographic and Scientific American and children from across the world who are in the age group of 13-18 years with their project that formulate a hypothesis, perform an experiment and present their results.
