54 percent voting was recorded in Himachal’s Kinnaur district on Thursday for the ongoing by-elections for Mandi Lok Sabha. The polling was deferred in Kinnaur due heavy rains that had triggered landslides, causing damage to majority of roads.
Himachal’s Chief Electoral officer Narender Chauhan said that the turnout was just 11 percent in the first two hours but by noon it picked up pace and overall, 54 percent voting was recorded in tribal district.
As per reports, minor scuffle was reported Shalkhar polling booth though overall polling was conducted in peaceful environment.
For Mandi bypoll, Himachal CM Virbhadra Singh’s wife Pratibha Singh was in fray while former cabinet minister former and BJP candidate Jai Ram Thakur fighting elections against her.
