The hill state of Himachal would launch ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign from Una and Kinnaur districts to improve sex ratio in these district.
This was disclosed by Director, Health Safety and Regulations Rameshwar Sharma while presiding over a meeting of State Appropriate Authority with State Advisory Committee under Pre-Conception and Pre- Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PC &PNDT).
He said that the State level National Girl Child Day would be celebrated on 24th January and rally and painting competitions would be organized to mark the occasion.
He said that effective steps were being taken to monitor the misuse of Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques and efforts were on to further improve the sex ratio in the State. He said that so far 259 clinics in private and government sectors were registered in the State.
He added that more workshops would be organized in the state to ensure effective implementation of the Act and mobilize people for improvement in child sex ratio particularly in Una district. He said that a workshop of Chief Medical Officers of the State would be held in next month to sensitize them regarding PC &PNDT and proper reporting. The inspecting authority in the district should inspect genetic clinics having the facility of ultra sonography time to time besides holding meetings of District Consultative Committees in a regular interval, he added.
