Chinese women advised not to wear skimpy clothes to avoid harassment

New Delhi/June 5
Chinese police officials have advised women not wear skimpy clothes during summer season while traveling in public transport or in subways to avoid sexual harassment.
As per reports, the authorities has cautioned Chinese women not to wear miniskirts, hot pants or other skimpy dresses while traveling in buses and subways during this summer season to avoid sexual harassment.
Beijing’s Public Security Bureau’s Traffic department has issued guidelines to Chinese women to shield themselves with bags or newspapers while traveling. Further, women should sit or stand in lower areas rather than in raised seats to avoid being indecently photographed by miscreants.
Chinese police officials say that public transport buses in Beijing don’t have security cameras hence it becomes difficult for authorities to collect evidence of harassment. Meanwhile, maximum punishment for harassment is 15 days detention in police custody,
Chinese women still face old fashioned attitudes among many men as only few of them told top jobs in government or corporate sector though the founder of Communist China Mao Zedong has promised equal treatment and had declared that women holed up half the sky.
