8th class student of Chapslee school commits suicide

An eigth class student of Chapslee School allegedly committed suicide by hanging at her resident in Sanjauli area of Shimla on Wednesday evening.
Astha Verma (14) was found hanging in her room by her mother when she returned from her neighbour’s house after which police was informed.
Police officials said that they couldn’t ascertain the exact reason behind the minor girl’s suicide as they haven’t recovered any suicide note from her possession. Meanwhile, police have handed the girl’s body to her parents after autopsy and they are awaiting her medical reports.
“Astha was alone at her house when she took extreme step as her mother had gone to her neighbour’s house while her elder sister had gone for tuition classes,” added the police.
Her father Surender Verma works with Himachal’s electricity board and the family belongs to Bhalyana village, few kilometers away from Theog in Shimla district.
