8 killed after Indian army's helicopter crashes in Gaurikund

8 persons including 5 Indian army personnel were killed after IAF’s MI-17 helicopter, that was involved in rescue operations in Uttrakhand, crashed on Tuesday in Gaurikund.
As per reports, the helicopter was carrying 8 persons including 5 army officials and 3 civilians, reportedly rescued from the area, and it crashed due to bad weather conditions while returning from Gaurikund area near Kedarnath in Uttrakhand.
“One Mi-17 V5 helicopter of IAF on a rescue mission from Gauchar to Guptkashi and Kedarnath on return leg from Kedarnath has crashed North of Gaurikund. The eight persons onboard including five crew members sustained fatal injuries,” Indian Defence ministry said in a statement, adding that a Court of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate into the accident while the IAF`s rescue operations will continue.
