The Special Investigation Unit of Vigilance on Wednesday filed challan in the court of special judge Solan against 26 persons including BJP leader and former Health Minster Dr. Rajiv Bindal.
The case pertains to the 13 year old alleged irregularity in appointments in Solan Municipal Council when Dr. Bindal was the chairman.
The bureau had registered a case against Bindal on December 1, 2006 under Sections 420, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code and Section 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The then government however could not take the case to logical conclusion because of some hassles. The BJP, which formed the government in 2007 December, had almost pushed the issue under the carpet. But the Congress party, which had made it a major issue while in opposition, got it re-opened immediately after returning to power.Bindal had dubbed the move of the Congress government as “political vendetta”.
