UP agrees to pay Rs 200 Crore to Himachal for power

Finally after many years the Uttar Pradesh government finally has agreed to pay the pending amount of Rs 200 Crore to the Himachal Pradesh government.
Himachal had sold electricity to Uttar Pradesh government at bulk, amounting to Rs. 200 Crore, but the amount was not paid by UP government.
When Himachal sells this amount of electricity to the UP government, Mayawati was the chief minister and BJP government was in power at Himachal.
After assembly elections, the governments in both the states changed but the amount remained pending. Himahal government was even planning to approach the the court in this matter.
“We have raised this matter with the Union Ministery at Dehli time and now UP government have agreed to pay the pending amount of Rs. 200 Crore to Himachal, Himachal Power Minister Sujan Singh Pathania said.
Sources in the power department said that Himahal government was likely to receive this amount in next few days.
The states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttarpradesh are the regular buyers of power from Himachal Pradesh. The hill state is selling surplus power to these states in summers.
