Single girl child to get one percent reservation in Punjab’s technical institutes

Punjab government on Wednesday announced one percent reservation to single girl child for admission in technical institutions of the state from current academic session.
Punjab’s Technical Education minister Anil Joshi termed the decision as historic and said that it will boost gender equality in the state and will help in eliminating the discrimination against the girls in education sector.
“After the implementation of this decision, single girl childs’ will be able to attain one percent reservation in all the Engineering colleges, Polytechnics, Industrial Training Institutions of Punjab,” Joshi said, adding that necessary instructions have been issued to the higher officials in this regard.
Joshi appealed to all the governing bodies of private technical institutions to strictly implement the decision and perform a bigger role to ensure better education opportunities for girls.
