11,000 pilgrims still missing in Uttarakhand: UN report

Even as government agencies are pegging the number of missing pilgrims at 3,000 to 3,500, a United Nations report today claimed that more than 11,000 pilgrims may be missing in natural calamity that struck Uttarakhand few last month.
As per reports, a UN agency had prepared the report regarding the number of missing pilgrims in Uttarakhand and it had estimated that more than 11,000 may be missing in the tragedy. However, the number of missing persons as per the FIR that have been filed so far, stands at 3,500 to 3,700.
Meanwhile, 1,350 persons have been rescued from Badrinath and the number of the pilgrims evacuated so far has reached to 1,08,253 people.
NDMA’s Vice Chairman m Shashidhar Reddy said that the maximum deaths have been reported from Kedarnath and Rambada areas and the number of injured registered so far has risen to is 3,119.
