To unravel the mystery of the death of her two and half year old aunt, Odory Johnson who died in Shimla in 1915, her cousin, Jill Kelly (60) has came to Shimla on Monday seeking her death record.
Jill Kerry said that her family used to live in Shimla in 1915 and her aunt, Odory Johnson had died here when she was two and half year old. It was in 1940 that her family along with her grandfather Harry Johnson moved back to Isle of Man in England.
“I have heard from my father about Odory’s death after which I thought about finding out the cause of her death and take her death certificate back to England to surprise my family. But now, it seems that I wouldn’t be able to fulfill my wish as we couldn’t find her records after a search of records at Municipal Corporation, Shimla,” Kerry said.
Kerry, who had to come to Shimla along with her friends, further stated that they weren’t able to find her aunt’s records as they didn’t have information regarding exact date of Odory’s death.
Kerry added that it was her first time that she visited India and Shimla. She liked Shimla for its natural beauty and many places here reminds her of England
Meanwhile, an official with Municipal Corporation office said that officials searched the death records available with them but they couldn’t find any details regarding Odory.
