Raid on ‘rave party’ in Himachal, 10 detained

Himachal police have raided a ‘rave party’, comprising mostly foreigners, in the interiors of the picturesque Manikaran Valley and detained some of the party-goers, an official said Sunday.
Following a tip-off about the ‘rave party’, having more than 300 people,
the police raided the spot located close to Kasol village, 42 km from
Kullu town, early Saturday and rounded up some of them. It also seized
cigarettes and some bottles of alcohol and tracks of trance music, said a
police official.
“Some of the revellers even managed to escape from the scene due todarkness.  The police have taken blood and urine samples of 10 people. We are awaiting the medical report. Those who tested positive would be arrested (for consuming drugs under the NDPS Act),”
Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar said.
The Manikaran Valley in Kullu district a famous tourist place for its hot springs is also notorious for poppy cultivation and rave parties.
The poppy fields, grown illegally in vast tracts of Kullu, Mandi and Chamba districts in the state is attracting a large number of backpackers to the higher reaches and largely unexplored areas of the state where some of them have become part of poppy-growing and smuggling.
