The Himachal Pradesh government would regularise buildings with deviations to certain extent. The Himachal cabinet in its meeting held on Monday evening decided to approve “One time settlement policy”. But the cabinet also decided not to relax any rules in for the construction in the ‘green-area’belt. It also decided to make NOC compulsory from Environment department for any construction in the green belt.
This decision is expected to benefit around 35000 house owners who are waiting for regularisation of their building which were constructed after necessary approvals but certain deviations were made during construction work.
These owners till date were also deprived off water and electricity connections on domestic rates.
In Shimla alone the number of such house owners is around 16000 who are waiting for regularisation of construction.
The state cabinet meeting was presided by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, but no relief has been given to those who had constructed buildings without getting necessary approvals.
A high up of the department said that different slabs of fee have been decided for the regularisation of the construction. The building owners have to pay the higher fee for the higher deviation to get the building structure regularised, he added.
But the objections will be invited from the residents within gap of a month to finally notify the Shimla Development Plan.”
Sources said that the cabinet also gave its approval to enhance the allowance of panchayat chowkidars from Rs. 1200 to Rs 1800 on monthly basis. This would benefit around 3200 panchayat chowkidars in who are providing their services in all panchayats of state.2
