Hamirpur to get world class shooting range

Hamirpur would soon get one world class shooting range facility to train youth in shooting event. This was stated by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal while speaking on the occasion of the computer distribution function organized to provide free computers to 40 government schools of district Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Una, at Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Hamirpur on Tuesday.
Chief Minister said that it was a historic day to the people of district Hamirpur where developmental projects worth over Rs. 100 crore were being dedicated and foundation stone laid for the benefit of the people of the district. He said that Himachal had not been the leader in all major sectors but was also the land of warriors which had produced best soldiers in the armed forces.

Dhumal said that Hamirpur district had set new record with the winning of Silver Medal by youth of the district Vijay Kumar in ongoing London Olympics in shooting event. He said that the state government had announced a cash reward of Rs. one crore to the Olympian Silver Medalist Vijay Kumar besides conferring ‘Himachal Gourav’ Award in Independence Day Function this month. He said that shooting range would also be provided at Hamirpur to give boost to shooting sport by taking inspiration from the Olympian Vijay Kumar to earn laurels to the nation and the state.
Dhumal said that two synthetic tracks financed by Ambuja Cements and ACC in construction of modern synthetic track at Hamirpur and Dharamshala, out of which the Hamirpur track had already been dedicated while another at Dharamshala was ready for dedication. He said that indoor stadium was also being constructed at Hamirpur at a cost of Rs. 664 lakhs besides library building to cost about Rs. 600 lakhs. He said that sports infrastructural facilities were being upgraded in the state so that energy of the youth was channelised towards constructive and positive activities and save them from falling prey to bad habits.

Chief Minister said that state government was giving boost to computer education and providing latest educational aids to the youth to equip them with best of the skills to match global trends. Earlier, he laid foundation stone of the Improvement and remodeling of the Drinking Water Supply Scheme to Hamirpur town estimated to cost Rs. 65 crore.

Later, he also dedicated 18 newly constructed doctors residential quarters close to the regional hospital Hamirpur, completed at a cost of Rs. 170.22 lakh to the medicos of the district headquarters with a view to ensure availability of health staff in odd hours.
