Himachal government on Tuesday announced to organize five-day Shimla Film Festival from June 24, 2014 onwards at the Gaiety Theatre Complex in Shimla in collaboration with Indian Information and Broadcasting ministry and the Directorate of Film Festivals.
A state government spokesperson said that apart from screening films during the film festival, an Exhibition on 100 years of Indian Cinema and Workshops will also be organised. “During the festival, workshops on the subjects of ‘Acting’ and ‘Film Appreciation’ will be held at the Gaiety Theatre (Gothic Theatre),” the spokesperson said.
He said that the Resource Persons for the workshop will be from FTII Pune and the Satyajit Ray Film and Theatre institute, Kolkata. “The maximum number of Workshops would be four; two each on ‘Acting’ and ‘Film Appreciation’ and these workshops are proposed to be held on the June 27 and June 29 for Acting and Film Appreciation respectively,” he said.
The spokesperson said that each Workshop is likely to be of duration of 11/2 to 2 hours followed by discussions with Faculty. The Department of Language and Culture has decided to undertake a process of registration for enrolling the participants for these Workshops which will commence from May 26 till June 7,” he added.
