Punjab government on Sunday launched an online portal for granting scholarships to students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Backward Classes categories.
Punjab’s SC/BC Welfare minister Gulzar Singh Ranike said that the online portal, Ashirwad will enable the SC/BC students to claim the scholarship by logging in the website www.punjabscholarship.gov.in after filling the prescribed Performa online.
“A web portal for granting scholarship to the student belonging to the minority community has been launched and the link of this website is available on the new web site,” Ranike said, adding that a user ID and a password for operating this website will be generated to all the secondary schools/colleges/institutes by National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the information regarding this will be disseminated through SMS and e-mails to them.
“After having received the user ID and password schools/colleges/institutes will have to fill the requisite information in institute administration column like profile, bank statement, the courses offered and fee structure and this information must reach by 2nd July 2013 to the concerned department,” Ranike said.
He added that the candidates can apply for scholarship online from July 5, 2013 onwards and Joint Director, Welfare Department Bindu Walia has been deputed as a nodal officer.
