Indian army launches website to give info about pilgrims stranded in Uttarakhand

Indian army on Wednesday launched website to provide live updates on rescued persons, helpline numbers and location wise data of people stranded at different places due to recent flash floods.
“The website www.suryahopes.in will provide information about army operations across Uttarakhand, location wise data of people stranded at various places, list of rescued persons, helpline numbers, latest news about flood victims with links to Uttarakhand government website and google sites that are provide information on flood affected people,” said an Indian army spokesperson, adding that the website is being updated as and when the information is available.
Indian army have rescued around 1,300 pilgrims from Harshil and Badrinath area of Uttarakhand, meanwhile, 450 pilgrims are still awaiting evacuation from Harsil and approximately 3000 are waiting for their turn at Badrinath, said the spokesperson.
”Army conducted search operations in Jungle Chatti area near Kedarnath and we haven’t found any stranded pilgrims in the area for third consecutive day,” said the spokesperson, adding that army has so far evacuated more than 33,000 people since 17 June.
