Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday condemned attack of senior Government officer Kahn Singh Pannu in Uttrakhand yesterday.
Badal appealed everyone to keep their calm during this tragedy and said that the incident was a great disservice to the cause of relief and rehabilitation for which the officers are working at considerable hardship and risk to their own lives.
“It is extremely painful that while the officer was engaged in an untiring and continual day and night operations to mitigate the sufferings of the victims and ensure relief and safety to those trapped in the calamity, some people chose to criminally assaulted a prominent member of the relief and rescue teams,” Badal said.
Badal also expressed surprise that security arrangements for those helping others in fighting against this natural calamity were so pathetically inadequate and urged Uttrakhand’s Chief minister to deploy adequate security staff for the rescuers and relief and rehabilitation parties.
Punjab’s Director General of School Education (DGSE) Kahan Singh Pannu, who is supervising rescue operations in Uttarakhand, was brutally assaulted by a group of pilgrims at Gobind Ghat on Monday.
