Another Indian prisoner dies in Pakistani jail

After Sarabjeet Singh and Chamel Singh in Pakistan jails, yet another Indian national, held on the charges of illegally crossing the border, died in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore reportedly due to heart attack.
Zakir Mumtaz, a resident of Amritsar in India’s Punjab state, was admitted to Jinnah hospital on Wednesday night after he fell ill but he later died in the hospital.
Pakistan jail authorities said that Zakir believed to have died due to heart attack but they are awaiting his autopsy report to ascertain the exact cause of his death.
Zakir was arrested on August 3, 2011 for allegedly crossing the border illegally and he was kept in Sheikhaupura jail before being sent to Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore.
Earlier, Sarabjeet Singh had also died in the same jail after he was attacked by his fellow inmates. Singh was sentenced to death on charges of carrying out sabotage in Pakistan and killing Pakistani nationals.
