Himachal: Eight killed in private bus accident in Shimla

Eight persons were killed while several others have been feared injured after a private bus fell into gorge in Chopal area of Shimla district on Thursday afternoon.

Police said that the accident took place at around 4 pm today when the ill-fated private bus of Uttarakhand was coming to Tyuni area of Nerwa from Vikasnagar in Uttarakhand.

Police said that the district administration and police officials were carrying out rescue operations to extricate bodies from the mangled remains of the bus. “The injured have been rushed to Nerwa Hospital hospital where the condition of four injured is said to be serious,” police said.

Police sources said that the private bus carrying around 23 passengers to Tyuni area in Nerwa and most of the victims are the resident of Tyuni and Nerwa area in Shimla district.

Governor Kalyan Singh and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh expressed grief over private bus accident near Fedej Bridge at Antrawali in Chopal Sub Division of Shimla district in which eight persons lost their lives.

Governor and Chief Minister prayed the Almighty to give peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss. They also wished speedy recovery for the injured.

Chief Minister directed the district administration to provide immediate relief to the affected families.
