Delhi govt starts an open reality check on old diesel vehicles

Delhi government on Tuesday started the process of an open reality check of 10 years-old diesel commercial vehicles at Burari Transport Authority.

A Delhi government spokesperson said that Transport Minister Gopal Rai today inspected Burari Authority and looked after the process of an open reality check of 10 years-old diesel commercial vehicles plying national capital.

“Rai inspected the Transport department process of conducting test to check emission levels of old diesel vehicles and assessment of their fitness as on this basis, the department would apprise the National Green Tribunal about the details and relevant facts,” the spokesperson said.

After the inspection, Rai said that a total of 53 old diesel vehicles/commercial vehicles were checked today at Burari Authority out of which 45 vehicles were passed and 08 vehicles failed in the test.

The officers of transport department, Environmental activists and representatives of Transport Unions were also present during fitness tests. The Transport department has set a daily target of checking of 100 old diesel vehicles.
