Cylinder blast in Jhansa Polytechnic College workshop kills three, injures twelve

Three persons were killed while twelve other suffered injuries in a cylinder blast in Jhansa Polytechnic College workshop in Kurukshetra district of Haryana on Saturday.

As per reports, the incident took place in Gyanganga Polytechnic College workshop in Jhansa on Saturday morning when some students were in lab for chemical experiments.

“Suddenly, a blast took place in the gas cylinder kept in the workshop in which three staff members have been reportedly killed while twelve others suffered injuries,” police sources said, adding that the injured have been rushed to hospital where they are undergoing treatment and their condition is said to be serious but stable.

Police sources said that the fire tenders were rushed to Jhansa Polytechnic College to douse the flames and it has now been brought control.

“Some staff members of the college were working in the workshop as it was holiday in the college when the accident took place. One of the deceased have been identified as Welding Instructor while the two others have not been identified as yet,” police sources added.

While police officials have registered a case in this regard and they were further investigating the case to find out exact cause behind the cylinder blast in Jhansa Polytechnic College workshop.
