Asaduddin Owaisi terms Salman Khan as drunkard, calls for ban on alcohol

North Gazette News/Mumbai
MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday termed Salman Khan as drunkard and said that the Bollywood actor killed people sleeping on footpath under the influence of alcohol.

Owaisi who was addressing an election meeting in Bandra East in run up to upcoming bye-elections for the seat, said that Salman ran over people sleeping on footpath and now he had made his driver scapegoat in the case.

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi called for ban on alcohol in the country while citing Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s example and said that if beef can be banned in India then why not alcohol that is bad for one’s health.

Owaisi targetted Salman Khan in 2002 hit and run case in Mumbai in which his driver had staked claim in court that he was driving the car at the time of accident.

It is pertinent to mention here that Salman Khan was arrested by police on September 28, 2002 on charges of rash and negligent driving after his car ran over people, sleeping on footpath.

One person was killed while three others had suffered injuries in car accident outside a bakery and Salman khan pleaded not guilty during the trial.

However, few days back, Khan’s driver had reportedly taken the blame for the accident in a Mumbai court, saying he was driving the car at the time of accident and not the Bollywood superstar.
