147 killed, 65 injured in terror attack on Kenyan University

147 persons mostly students and staff were killed while sixty five others suffered injuries in Al-Shabab terror attack on Kenyan University in Garissa. While security forces have reportedly killed all the terrorists.

As per reports, terrorists affiliated to Al-Shabab stormed into the campus of Garissa University College and opened indiscriminate firing on students after entering into varsity hostels at around 5.30 am on Thursday (2.30 PM IST).

Media reports suggests that around five armed gunman entered into university hostels and opened indiscriminate firing on students in which twenty five persons including two security guards deputed at the gate have been reportedly killed.

Kenyan police and armed forces have reportedly cordoned off the entire area and they were now trying to flush out the terrorists who have reportedly taken shelter in a hostel.

Sources say that over sixty five students including police personnel have suffered injuries in the terror attack on Kenyan University and the death could rise further.

Meanwhile, a fierce gunbattle is on between security forces and terrorists who had taken refuse in one of the hostel of Garissa University College.

The terrorists have also taken some students hostage in the hostel where they are hiding while many students have managed to escape unhurt in the firing.

Kenyan security agencies are suspecting the role Al-Shabab terrorists, based in Somalia behind the attack as the Islamic group had warned of retaliation for sending troupes to country to fight militants.
