Indian government is planning to grant Leave Travel Concession (LTC) to Government employees for visiting SAARC countries to enhance people to people contact and improve bilateral ties.

said that the government is considering the proposal but it is still in initial stages.
“A proposal to provide LTC to govt employees to visit some SAARC countries is in its initial stage of consideration,” Singh said, adding that the details are yet to be finalized.
Singh said that the main objective behind grant of LTC to govt employees is to increase people to people contact and further strengthen bilateral ties with SAARC countries through increase in tourism in the region,” he said.
He said that Indian government on September 9, 2014 has extended the facility of conversion of home town LTC to visit the states in the North East Region, Jammu & Kashmir and the UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands for a period of two years up to September 25, 2016.
This facility was first introduced in the year 2008.
Presently, no other proposal is under consideration for including more places under the conversion of Home Town LTC to anywhere in the country.
