Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has launched Redmi 2 smartphone in China, the successor to much sought after smartphone Redmi 1S.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 has been launched in China at 699 Yuan (Approximately Rs 7,100) and it would go on sale in the country on January 9.
Xiaomi, however, has not revealed as to when the smartphone would be available in India for sale.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 features a 4.7 inch 720 IPS touchscreen with Dragontrail Glass but the new smartphone would flaunt a smart white colour.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 chipset has been upgraded to Snapdragon 410 instead of 400 in Redmi 1S with a 64 bit capable Cortex A53 (1.2GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 LTE-enabled 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU) but its processor seems to have downgrade to 1.2 GHz from 1.6 GHz in Redmi 1S.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 would feature a newer MIUI software with Android 4.4 KitKat OS, an upgrade from Redmi 1S that supports Android 4.4 KitKat OS, 1GB RAM and 8GB inbuilt storage which can be expanded upto 32GB.
Redmi 2 is a bit lighter than its predecessor and weighs around at 132 grams, 16 grams lighter than Redmi 1S, and flaunts a more sleeker design. The smartphone comes loaded with same rear camera, 8MP while front camera has been slightly upgraded to 2MP.
Xiaomi had tried to give some extra to its consumer in India with 4G LTE support on both the SIMs, with 2200 MAh battery.
