UP IGP accused of raping woman, wife cries harassment over PIL

A woman has accused UP Police IGP (Civil Defence) Amitabh Thakur who is posted at Lucknow of raping while the cop’s wife refuted the allegations and claimed that they were being harassed since she filed a PIL in Yadav Singh case, the suspended engineer of Noida Authority.

As per reports, Nutan, wife of IGP Amitabh Thakur, said that she and her husband had approached State Women Commission Zarina Usmani and DGP Arun Kumar Gupta, seeking an inquiry into the rape allegations.

Nutan said that she and her husband were being harassed after she filed a PIL in Yadav Singh case in Allahabad High Court. “Since my husband started an inquiry into engagement of child labour in Hindon area of Ghaziabad and I filed a PIL in Allahabad High Court, we are being continuously harassed,” she said.

“After I filed a PIL, we are being continuously harassed and case like theft of jewelery, cash are filed against us. Not only, this we are also getting threatening calls from unknown persons for which we have also filed cases with police,” she said.

She termed the rape allegations as pathetic to stop investigation in child labour cases and added the woman who had accused her husband of rape, is related to a Samajwadi party leader.
