SC refuses to entertain plea against Rajasthan panchayat polls ordinance

The Supreme Court of India (SC) on Monday refused to entertain plea against the Rajasthan panchayat polls ordinance brought by Vasundhara Raje government.

The SC bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu asked the petitioners to approach Rajasthan High Court against the Rajasthan panchayat polls ordinance that specify educational qualification Panchayati Raj Institutions’ representatives.

Supreme Court was hearing a petition that challenges the Rajasthan panchayat polls ordinance setting educational qualification for Sarpanch of Gram Panchayats and members of panchayats and Zila Parishads.
