A Hyderabad based lawyer has filed a case against US company for using Mahatma Gandhi’s image on beer cans.

As per reports, Us based New England Brewing company has launched a new beer and has used Gandhi’s image on beer cans to promote its product.

As per the description available on website, Gandhi-Bot is an India Pale Ale with a blend of three varieties of American Hops. Aromatic and fully vegetarian, Gandhi-Pot is an ideal aid for self-purification and the seeking of truth and love.

Angered over naming and using the Father of Nation, Gandhi’s image on beer cans, S Janardhan Goud (38), a Hyderabad based lawyer has filed a petition against the New England Brewing Company for insulting India’s icon.

Goud said that the act is highly condemnable and punishable under various sections of IPC which includes Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act 1974 and section 124-A.

However, the New England Brewing Company head brewer and partner offered apologises and reportedly said that the company apologises if the sentiments of Indian people have been hurt.

Indians living in US have also reportedly protested against this move and demanded an apology on the issue from the New England Brewing Company.
