Kalyan Singh takes over as 24th Governor of Himachal

Kalyan Singh, the Governor of Rajasthan and who has also been given the additional charge of Himachal Pradesh, took oath today as the 24th Governor of the state.

HP High Court Chief Justice Justice Mansoor Ahmed Mir administered the oath of office to Kalyan Singh in a simple but impressive ceremony held here at Raj Bhawan today. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was also present on the occasion.

The Governor was also given an impressive Guard of Honour on the occasion and Chief Secretary P Mitra read out the warrant of appointment.

Former chief minister and opposition leader Prem Kumar Dhumal, Cabinet ministers Vidya Stokes, Sujan Singh Pathania, Dhaniram Shandil and Prakash Chaudhry, CPS Nand Lal, MLAs, Judges of H P High Court, Sanjay Chauhan, Mayor, Tikender Panwar, Deputy Mayor, Bhim Sen, Chief Information Commissioner, T G Negi, State Election Commissioner, Lt Gen B S Sachar GOC-IN-C ARTRAC, former ministers and former MLAs, Vice Chancellors of Universities, Sanjay Kumar DGP, Additional Chief Secretaries, senior officers of State Government were also present on the occasion.
Shri Kalyan Singh was born on 5th January 1932 at Village Madholi in Aligarh District of Uttar Pradesh. He twice served as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and was elected MLA for Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly six times consecutively from 1967. He became Health Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 1977 and also remained Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2014. He served as State President of Uttar Pradesh B.J.P and remained National Vice President of B.J.P. for two terms. Shri Kalyan Singh assumed the office of the Governor of Rajasthan on 04th September, 2014.
