An ITI student of Shimla based government institute has been arrested by the police for allegedly stealing valuables items worth Rs 75,000 from Taraview building, located in Lakkar here.
As per reports, the accused identified as Pawan Kumar was arrested from his residence in Sunni area on Monday on the basis of a tip-off.
Police said that the caretaker of the building Pyare Lal had filed a complaint of theft at Taraview Building on January 4, 2015 after the owner Manju Madan who resides in Chandigarh found valuable items missing from the house.
“During the course of investigations, it was found out that Pawan Kumar might be involved in the theft and he was arrested from his residence on the basis of his mobile phone’s location,” police said.
Police said that on interrogation, the accused confessed to committed the crime and the stolen items which include LCD TV, DVD and other items were recovered on his instance.
“The accused told us that he stolen the goods on the intervening night of November 10, 11, 2014 as he knew that the owner resides in Chandigarh,” the police said.
Police added that the accused was produced before a local court here which has sent to three day police remand.
