Five youth, three from Punjab and one each from Rajasthan and Jharkhand were killed after the car in which they were travelling rolled down into gorge near Taradevi in Shimla on Monday morning.
As per reports, the Swift car (PB30N-3075) rolled down into 1,000 metres deep gorge at Sonu Bangla near Taradevi in Shimla on Monday morning while they were on their way to Shimla from Chandigarh.
Police said that all the occupants identified as Sandeep Singh, a resident of 207 NAC 8667 Sector 33 B in Chandigarh, Nitin Kumar, a resident of 848 street number 1, Dharmesh Colony of Malaut district Muktsar Sahib in Punjab, Prem Saharan, a resident of 6K22 Jawahar Colony, Ganganagar in Rajasthan, Mohammad Wasim Akram, a resident of Gadri Resaldar, Darndu in Ranchi district of Jharkhand and Sunil Jindal, a resident of Krishna Colony near Water works Malaut in Muktsar Sahib district of Punjab were killed on the spot.
Police officials said that the car was badly mangled owing to the fall. “It seems that the driver failed to negotiate the turn due to which it fell into 1,500 metres deep gorge when the five youth were on their way to Shimla,” police said.
However, the exact reason behind the accident could be ascertained once the investigations in the matter are over, added the police.
