In BJP President Amit Shah on Monday announced Kiran Bedi as Delhi CM candidate for upcoming Delhi assembly polls and she would contest elections from Krishna Nagar seat.
Talking to mediapersons, Shah said that BJP, in its Parliamentary Board’s meeting that was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home minister Rajnath Singh among others, has decided to contest Delhi Assembly polls under Kiran Bedi’s leadership and she would be the CM candidate of party.
“We hope that our decision meets with the expectations of the people of Delhi in the upcoming assembly as Kiran Bedi has fought against corruption and dedicated her life in the service of the country,” Shah said, adding that it is the unanimous decision of BJP’s Parliamentary Board.
He said that BJP has always promoted those persons who have worked for the welfare of the country and prominent socialites like Kiran Bedi are always welcome in the party.
Shah added that the list of other BJP candidates for Delhi assembly polls would be declared later in the evening as all the names have also been finalised by the party in the Parliamentary Board meeting.
Talking to TV channels, Kiran Bedi thanked party president Amit Shah for projecting her as Delhi CM candidate and said that she campaign for good governance and honest administration in the national capital in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
