Caught on camera: Bear mauls forest guard to death in Chhattisgarh

A wild bear mauling a forest guard to death in Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh has been caught on camera and has gone viral on social networking sites.

As per reports, the incident took place on December 21 in Prem Nagar area of Surajpur district in Chhattisgarh.

Media reports say that the female bear who was supposed to be mentally ill had wandered into village on December 20 and the animal attacked several houses, animals and locals. One local was also killed in the attack.

The locals informed the forest officials who tried to chase away the bear from the village but K P Singh, one of the forest guards was caught and mauled by the bear during the operation.

The locals tried to scare the animal away shouting but the bear kept attacking the guard as the onlookers couldn’t gather courage to save the forest guard.

The forest officials tried to trap the animal but the all attempts remain unsuccessful. It was then when the forest officials and police officials shot the bear dead as it was posing threat to the people of village.
