As many as 31 persons have reportedly been killed while 50 others suffered in bomb blast at Pakistan Shiite Mosque located in Shikharpur.

As per reports, the bomb blast took place in a Imambargah in Shikharpur area in Sindh province of Southern Pakistan while minority community Shiite Muslims were offering Friday prayers.

Around 35 people have been reportedly killed in the bomb blast at Karbala Maula Imambargah in Lakhi Dar area while 50 persons who have suffered injuries in the blast have been rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.

Pakistam authorities said that the condition of some of the injured is said to be serious and death toll in the bomb blast could go up.

“Many people were trapped under the debris of Mosque and locals rushed to rescue survivors that were trapped under the roof of the imambargah which collapsed in the blast,” an eyewitness claimed, adding that the blast led to chaotic scene at blast site with relatives searching for their near and dear ones.

Though no terrorist outfit claimed responsibility for the attack, however, the role of Sunni extremists is being suspected behind the attack.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sunni extremists Muslims had carried out attack on Shiite religious places across the country in the past as they do not consider Shias as true Muslims.
