12 killed, 7 injured in train, vehicle collision in Hisar

Atleast 12 persons including four children were killed while seven others suffered injuries after trained collided with Tata Magic vehicle at an unmanned crossing near Barwala village in Haryana’s Hisar district on Monday.

As per reports, the incident took place early in the morning today when 15 members of a family were going attend a religious function from their native Balak village in Hisar.

“The Tata Magic vehicle was hit by Dhruri-Sirsa train at the unmanned railway crossing near Barwala village in which twelve members of the family were killed while seven others suffered injuries,” said the police, adding that injured persons have been rushed to Hisar Civil Hospital for further medical treatment.

Police official said that the driver of the vehicle has also been killed in the accident and the condition of the injured is said to serious but stable.

Police said that low visibility due to dense fog could be the reason behind the accident and they are further investigating the matter after registering a case in this regard.

“It seems that the train and vehicle driver failed to notice the movement of vehicle due to low visibility on account of dense fog conditions in the area and this might have caused the collision,”added the police.
