Star Trek actress Roxann Dawson defends NYPD officers

Hollywood director and Star Trek actress Roxann Dawson has defended New York Police Department (NYPD) officers amid criticism over the death of a black man at the hands of police officers.

As per reports, Roxann Dawson defended NYPD officers and blamed New York Mayor Bill De Blasio for fanning racial hatred against police officers that led to widespread protests on city’s streets.

‘Cops of every color but all BLUE turn their backs on mayor who fanned racial flames of police hatred. #BlueLivesMatter #AllLivesMatter’, Star Trek actress Roxann Dawson tweeted.

However, Star Trek actress Roxann Dawson’s defense of NYPD hadn’t gone well with protesters who accused her of being misinformed on the entire issue and blamed NYPD officials of behaving like spoiled brats.

Raxann Dawson is well known for her role as half Klingon B’Elanna Torres in Star Trek Voyager which was also her directorial debut.

The death of Eric Garner and Michael Brown at the hands of cops have sparked wide spread unrest, leading to revenge killings of two NYPD officers by Baltimore man in Brooklyn.

The two cops Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were killed by Ismaaiyl Brinsley while they were sitting in their patrol car in Brooklyn on December. Brinsley later committed suicide and he had allegedly killed his girlfriend before travelling to Brooklyn to avenge the death of black men.

US based rapper Jayceon Terrell Taylor, popularly known as The Game had also stoked controversy over a comment on the murders of two New York Police Department officers on Instagram.

The rapper The Game had posted on Instagram, ‘I guess y’all “can’t breathe” either. #RIPEricGarner #AllLivesMatter #ShitHasToChange #Now’. But he later clarified that his comment was in response to NYPD officers pictures after the death of Eric Garner.
