The Queen of Hills, Shimla on Saturday received season’s first snowfall with other high hills witnessing snowfall while lower areas witnessing heavy rains and storms, pushing down the mercury by several notches.
As per reports, the snowfall started in the morning in Shimla and its surrounding popular tourists spots as Kufri, Fagu, Narkanda along with famous tourist place, Manali.
The snowfall has brought cheers on the faces of hoteliers as they hope that this would attract tourists in large numbers to the Hill City.
Earlier on December 10, the Meteorological Department officials had forcasted that many areas of hill state of Himachal Pradesh including plains and high hills may witness rain and snow from December 13 onwards.
The officials had said that a fresh Western Disturbance would affect western Himalayan region from December 12 onwards and there were chances of light to moderate rain and snow in plains and high hills of the state till December 15.
