Punjab has been selected by Indian government for the Krishi Karman Award 2013-14 as the best performing state in overall food grains production.

A Punjab government spokesperson said that in a communiqué, the Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh apprised the state government with regard to this decision.

“Union government would soon organize a function to felicitate the state for this rare feat. Appreciating the state government for this achievement, Radha Mohan Singh urged the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to receive this award on the behalf of the state,” said the spokesperson.

He said that the Award consists of a trophy, citation and a cash award of Rs 5 crore.

It may be recalled that under the dynamic, visionary and far-sighted leadership of Badal the state has also bagged “Krishi Karman Award” for record production of food grains during year 2010-11.
