No eye camp organised in Nurpur, says HP government

Himachal government on Saturday said that no eye operations were conducted in Nurpur in Kangra district.

Health Department spokesperson said that no eye-operations conducted in Nurpur, District Kangra from March 22-29, 2014 that have resulted in the loss of vision of nine patients is totally false and not based on facts as no eye operation was conducted at Nurpur.

He said that during the said period only eye screening of patients had been done in the complex of Nagni Mata Prabandhak Committee, Baranda, Kandwal, Tehsil Nurpur, District Kangra, by a private doctor Dr Nitin Salaria where after the patients were shifted to the Salaria Eye Hospital, Pathankot, Punjab for their eye operations at the level of the Committee at its own.

He said that State Health Department had no involvement in eye operations conducted at Salaria Eye Hospital, Pathankot.

The spokesman clarified that health department had not organized any such eye operations camps during the period in the state.
