The National Investigation Agency would probe the recent attacks by Bodo militants belonging to NDFB (S) in which over 75 tribal people have been killed.

An Indian government spokesperson said that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday directed NIA to investigate four cases of militant attacks in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts of Assam.

“The NIA probe has been ordered after Assam government on Friday urged the Home Ministry to hand over the probe in these cases to the agency,” the spokesperson said.

He added that considering the gravity of the offences and relevant factors, the Central Government is of the opinion that these attacks are scheduled offences under the NIA Act, 2008 and should be probed by it.
