India’s External Affairs ministry has stripped diplomat of her duties over vigilance inquiry against her and had put her under compulsory wait.

As per reports, Devyani Khobragade has been stripped off the charge of Director in the Development Partnership Division of Ministry of External Affairs.

Syed Akbaruddin, the spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs said that Devyani Khobragade has stripped off her duties on account of vigilance inquiry against her.

The vigilance inquiry against Devyani Khobragade had been initiated on charges of providing wrong information to Indian government regarding her husband and children.

Devyani Khobragade had reportedly didn’t reveal to government that her husband is US citizen and that she had procured US passports for her two children.

Khobragade had hogged media limelight after she was arrested US police in 2013 for mistreating her domestic help Sangeeta Richards, a charge denied by her.

She had returned to India after the controversy over her arrest and strip search by New York Police but US had not withdrawn the charges against her.
