Heavy snowfall in Shimla and other high hill areas of Himachal had affected vehicular traffic on roads in capital city and other adjoining areas, leading to long traffic jams.
As per reports, vehicular traffic on roads leading to Lakkar Bazar, Sanjauli and tourist spots as Fagu, Kufri has been badly affected due moderate snowfall during the night and heavy snowfall since morning.
The Queen of Hills, Shimla on Saturday had received season’s first snowfall with other high hills witnessing snowfall while lower areas witnessing heavy rains and storms.
Manali and its uphill Solang ski slopes and Kalpa had also witnessed moderate to heavy snowfall. However, in Shimla and Manali, the snow had soon melted with the accompanying rain yesterday.
The Rohtang Pass, the other tourist spot near Manali, had been experiencing heavy snowfall since Saturday and is closed for motorists.
Over 400 tourists were reported to stuck at different places between Manali and Rohtang Pass and rescue officials are trying to evacuate them at the earliest.
