HC denies bail to accused in Taradevi tree felling case

Himachal High Court on Tuesday declined interim anticipatory bail plea to accused in Taradevi Tree felling case.

Justice P S Rana rejected the bail plea of Amrik Singh Nagpal, a resident of Chandigarh and Director of M/s Pristine Hotels & Resorts Limited in Taradevi Tree felling case.

Pristine Hotels & Resorts Company had entered into an agreement with Ms. Parminder Kaur, owner of the private land in Mauza Jungle atTaradevi adjoining forest land on which 477 trees including 7 Deodar trees and 470 Bann trees were illegally felled.

The Court observed that in view of the gravity of offence, interim anticipatory bail cannot be granted for now, but it directed the Police to submit its report before next date December 24.
