Bird flu case reported from Jind, Panchkula nodal officer is bird flu suspect

A fresh case of bird flu has been reported from Jind in Haryana, while a nodal officer of animal husbandry in Panchkula has been found positive for bird flu.
It is worth mentioning that Chandigarh Administration had culled 110 captive geese as an exercise to contain the avian influenza on December 18.
Sources said that the Sukhana Lake will remain closed for more days as a team of experts from Bhopal will reach Chandigarh on December 23 for environmental sampling.
UT Administration on Thursday had ordered to cull around 110 ducks suspected to be infected with Swine Flu. A special team had been constituted to accomplish this task.
Culling exercise was carried out by a 30-member team which include experts.Sukhna Lake has already been cordoned off till further orders and the entry of people has been banned.
The centre has declared the Sukhna Lake of Chandigarh, an avian influenza free zone and issued a sanitisation certificate to the Chandigarh Administration on Monday.
